Administrative Assistant, Bro. Robert Phillips
Bro. Robert has humbly and faithfully served the Lord at Bethel for a long time in a variety of capacities. He has a heart for Jesus’ work in this community, and he has lived his entire life in this area. Robert was reared in the Lutheran church in New Market, yet he fell in love with a gal from Mathias, West Virginia, Lena See. Lena was reared in the Jenkins Chapel United Methodist Church. . So guess where they ended up? After they were married, they made a home in Mayland, living right next door to Bethel—imagine that?! It wasn’t long until they were involved at Bethel, finding at Bethel a home church where they reared their daughters and continued to grow in the Lord.
Robert and Lena have been a big part of helping Bethel to revitalize and envision Jesus’ continued work at Bethel and how that relates to this present generation. Robert serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Pastor, but also as a Trustee in charge of our cemetery, the Chairperson of our Church Board, and as a member of the church choir. He also operates a landscaping business in the area, with customers that go back as far as his teen years, and he drives a school bus route for Rockingham County.
He and his wife, Lena, enjoy camping and spending time with their family—especially the grandkids! Robert’s Dad and Mom still live in New Market, and Lena’s Dad still lives back in Mathias. The grandkids are down in Weyer’s Cave, so Robert and Lena spend lots of their free time going back and forth to see everybody.
Robert has a great personality and he keeps everyone light-hearted and encouraged. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Robert, if there is anything you would like to know about Bethel or this community. He is always happy to assist in whatever ways that he can.
